FileZilla 3.10.0
FileZilla is het populairste gratis FTP-programma. FTP staat voor 'file transfer protocol' en FileZilla kun je dan ook gebruiken om bestanden en webpagina's te uploaden naar je webserver. Voor website-beheerders is FileZilla onmisbaar.
FileZilla 3.10.0 is gisteren uitgebracht. In deze uitgave worden enkele fouten gerepareerd, crashes opgelost en een geheugenlek verholpen. Verder is het geheugengebruik van FileZilla geoptimaliseerd en zijn verschillende kleine verbeteringen doorgevoerd. Zo is het in het zoekvenster nu mogelijk om specifiek aan te geven of je bestanden of mappen zoekt.
Voornaamste vernieuwing is echter dat FileZilla nu standaard gebruik probeert te maken (als de server dat toelaat) van expliciete FTP over TLS (Transport Layer Security, de opvolger van SSL). Dit is een versleutelde verbinding die natuurlijk voor een verbeterde beveiliging zorgt, zodat gegevens niet meer als platte tekst worden verzonden. Ten slotte is ook een nieuw iconen-thema toegevoegd. Details over de wijzigingen kun je hieronder nalezen.
Let goed op bij de installatie van FileZilla! Tegenwoordig wordt gebruik gemaakt van de SourceForge installer die allerlei extra - meestal ongewenste - software aanbiedt. Kies voor Decline (afwijzen) bij dit soort aanbiedingen (en niet Accept). Na twee keer Decline begint de daadwerkelijke installatie van FileZilla.
FileZilla is - ook in het Nederlands - verkrijgbaar voor Windows, Mac OS X en Linux.
