Uitgavegeschiedenis FrostWire

Na enige proefversies is nu de eerste stabiele uitgave van FrostWire in de 5.2-serie verschenen. FrostWire 5.2.3 kent een waslijst aan verbeteringen en reparaties.

Deze uitgave van de populaire LimeWire-kloon richt zich met name op het verbeteren van de audiospeler-component, de integratie met iTunes en afspeellijsten. Ook is er nu een heuse mediabibliotheek en kan FrostWire 5.2.3 flac-bestanden afspelen.

FrostWire is gebaseerd op LimeWire en is te downloaden voor Windows, Mac OS X, Linux en Android. Het programma is ook in het Nederlands vertaald. Let goed op bij de installatie en haal het vinkje weg bij de Ask werkbalk voor Internet Explorer en Firefox als gevraagd wordt of u deze onnodige toolbar wilt installeren.

FrostWire 5.1.3 is uitgebracht. In deze versie van de populaire LimeWire-kloon is met name het zoeken naar bittorrent bestanden sterk verbeterd. De nieuwe smart torrent search zorgt voor betere zoekresultaten die ook nog eens veel sneller (binnen tienden van seconden) gepresenteerd worden. Volgens de makers staat dit ongeveer gelijk aan 'instant search'.

Van FrostWire is versie 5.0.7 verschenen. De voornaamste verandering in deze uitgave van de populaire LimeWire-kloon is dat het nu mogelijk is om bestanden (en mappen) direct te verzenden naar bekenden. Hierdoor is het mogelijk om op simpele wijze hele grote bestanden of mappen (er is geen beperking, dus het bestand kan ettelijke gigabytes groot zijn) te versturen. Nadeel is wel dat persoonlijke bestanden niet op deze manier verzonden kunnen worden omdat de http-link in principe openbaar beschikbaar is en anderen dit bestand dus ook kunnen downloaden.

Verder zijn in Frostwire 5 diverse aanpassingen aan de interface doorgevoerd en fouten opgelost. Lees hieronder alle wijzigingen.

FrostWire 4.21.7 is verschenen. Deze uitgave van de populaire LimeWire-kloon lost enkele fouten op bij het delen van mappen met gedownloade bestanden. Ook worden gecompleteerde downloads nu standaard niet gedeeld. FrostWire is in deze versie (en de vorige versie ook al) nadrukkelijk bezig om zijn gebruikers bewust te maken welke mappen en bestanden ze delen met anderen en of dat wel altijd wenselijk is. De instructies hierover zouden nu duidelijker moeten zijn.
