Avira Free AntiVirus is een Duitse virusscanner zonder poespas die meestal goed uit anti-virus-tests naar voren komt.

Avira AntiVirus 15.0.13 is gisteren uitgebracht. Deze onderhoudsupdate van Avira lost een hele lading fouten, crashes en geheugenlekken op. Ook zijn de prestaties (lees: snelheid) van Avira verbeterd, meldingsvensters verduidelijkt en een probleem met het verzenden van e-mails met bijlagen, als scannen uitgaande mail is ingeschakeld, is verholpen. Lees de details hieronder na.

Avira Free Antivirus 15 is te downloaden voor Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 en 10. Er zijn ook versies van Avira voor Mac OS X en Linux. En tegenwoordig zijn er gratis Android- en iOS-apps die je toestel beschermen tegen diefstal.

Let op!
De Nederlandse uitgave loopt vaak achter op de Engelse en wordt meestal pas enkele weken later bijgewerkt naar de meest recente versie.

Deze maand zijn twee update voor Avira AntiVirus uitgebracht. Versies 15.0.11 en 15.0.11.1 verbeteren de prestaties van de realtime scanner (waardoor Avira voor minder vertragingen van je systeem moet zorgen) en bekorten de installatietijd van Avira. Ook zijn updates kleiner geworden,

Deze twee onderhoudsupdates van Avira lossen verder diverse crashes en vastlopers van de systeem scanner op. Ook is een foutieve weergave van de status van de mailscanners verholpen. Ten slotte zijn nog verschillende problemen gerepareerd. Details kun je hieronder nalezen.

Gisteren is Avira 15 uitgebracht. Deze nieuwe versie voor 2015 brengt een vernieuwd update-mechanisme dat bovendien nu om de twee uur controleert of er nieuwe virusdefinities zijn. Dit om bedreigingen sneller te kunnen detecteren. Verder is de gedragsgebaseerde opsporing van nieuwe malware verbeterd, zodat je beter beschermd bent tegen zero-day bedreigingen en nieuwe aanvallen.

Avira 2015 is een kleine, maar prettige update. Enkele irritaties uit de afgelopen jaren zijn gelukkig inmiddels verleden tijd: geen dagelijkse pop-up met reclame voor de betaalde versie meer en geen vervelende WebGuard/Ask-toolbar voor je browsers die je aangeboden wordt. Dat scheelt een hoop ergernissen.

Avira Free AntiVirus 14.0.4.614 is deze week verschenen. Onbekend is wat veranderd is in deze uitgave, maar waarschijnlijk zijn alleen enkele fouten gerepareerd. Over nieuwe functionaliteit in deze versie is niks bekendgemaakt.

Avira Free Antivirus 14.0.4 is te downloaden voor Windows XP, Vista, 7 en 8. Deze nieuwe uitgave is binnen te halen door te updaten vanuit Avira zelf. De uitrol van de updates gaat niet altijd tegelijkertijd bij Avira (zeker niet voor de verschillende vertalingen), het kan daarom enkele dagen tot weken duren voordat je de nieuwe versie binnenkrijgt. Er zijn ook versies van Avira voor Mac OS en Linux. En tegenwoordig is er een gratis Android-app die je toestel beschermt tegen diefstal.

Bedenk tijdens de installatie of je de Avira-werkbalk voor je browser ook wilt hebben (biedt meer beveiliging, maar ook onnodige extraatjes). Zorg er wel voor dat je niet Ask.com als zoekmachine instelt.
