Adobe Reader XI 11.0.09

What’s New

Fill and Sign

The Sign Pane was renamed to Fill & Sign and the three related panels were unified in this single view. Form fill-in and signing workflows are made more usable since the forms tools now appear along with the signing tools.

In Reader, the Fill & Sign Pane automatically opens when form fields are present.

The tool logic is enhanced so that form fill-in is always possible even if another tool is selected. Starting a typing action simply deselects other tools.

Enterprise configuration via registry and plist preferences:

HKCU’s AVAlert\bDonotShowFSSWarningDlg set to 1 disables the Fill & Sign Alert dialog which appears when a user tries to use the service with a dynamic XFA form. Dynamic forms are currently unsupported.
HKLM’s cServices\bEnableSignPane set to 0 removes the Fill & Sign Pane from the user interface.
HKCU’s Workflows\bEnableAcrobatHS service’s master switch disables all features of the Fill & Sign Pane except for the Work with Certificates accordion. When forms are opened, the Fill & Sign Pane does not auto open.

Adobe Reader XI 11.0.08

Uitgave opmerkingen:
These updates resolve a sandbox bypass vulnerability that could be exploited to run native code with escalated privileges on Windows (CVE-2014-0546).

Adobe Reader XI 11.0.07

Improvements

Items preceded by numbers are bug fixes.

Security

Security hardening and expanded sandbox support occurs with each release. Other changes include:

  • Updated blacklisted extensions at HKLM’s FeatureLockDown area at cDefaultLaunchURLPerms\tSchemePerms.
  • Create 64 bit plugin so the product can run IE 11 with Enhanced Protected Mode on in Win 7.
  • 3675383: Dashes in passwords are coded differently on Mac & Windows.
  • 3727486: Use HTTPS Yahoo Mail APIs instead of HTTP.
  • 3734124: 11.0.06 can’t print on some secure printers. For a work around, see http://www.canon-is.co.jp/support/product/nh/asd1-0014.html

Performance

Additional improvements in this area are targeted for future releases.

  • Improved scrolling speed in PDFs.
  • Increased the speed of page drawing/rendering.
  • Decreased energy consumption.
  • 3662374: Mac only: Energy Impact data is 7.5 and can’t be reduced when Preferences dialog is invoked.

Hi-DPI support

Acrobat and Reader now take advantage of Hi-DPI monitors and can scale the user interface to 200%. This is automatically enabled using system settings and can be customized by choosing Preferences > General > Scale for screen resolution. The value is set to Auto by default and can be forced to 100% or 200%. Other items such as the font size, menu items, and drop down lists are controlled by the user’s system control panel rather than application’s preferences.

Limitations:

  • Some parts of the user interface are not Hi-DPI aware. These include Flash-based views such as the Sign Pane and Tools Pane in Reader, the comment list in the Comment Pane, and a couple of dialogs such as the File > Properties > XMP dialog provided by XMP. These views may appear tiny or misaligned.
  • Up-scaling is limited to 200%.
  • Dialogs may not fit the screen if the screen resolution is lower than 2048x1536. If the height is lower than 1526, some dialogs may not completely fit the screen and the OK and CANCEL buttons may not be accessible.

11.0.07 scaling settings behave as follows:

  • Auto

    • For settings up to 150%, display the UI at 100%.
    • For settings 150% or higher, display the UI at 200%.
  • 100%

  • 200%

Fixed issues

  • 3591274: “CANCEL” & “OK” buttons on Menu Item Dialog of Bookmarks & Weblinks appear off screen.
  • 3578985: PDF Content will re-draw when I scroll the page.
  • 3727650: Scale doesn’t adjust when switching between English and non-English UI.
  • 3732538: The small “X” to close a PDF is too small.

  • 3719808: Font too small in Encrypt and More Protection sub menu items.
  • 3727734: Icons too small in the Certificate Viewer.
  • 3733668: In IE, the page content redraws half and leaves the half bottom blank each time the mouse hovers over the HUD.
  • 3741533: Scaling Problem in Preview on the Signature Appearance Dialog.
  • 3731205: Sub-Menus under Common Tools Rearrange and Renumber Pages are not Hi-DPI enabled.
  • 3747990: IMS Dialog appears very small.
  • 3740632: The “Preview” label, Text field name, and “All Properties” link are too small, and the items in the pop up do not scale properly.
  • 3591268: Icons & Text on Tool & Sign Panel need updates.
  • 3593129: Images in combined files are not Hi-DPI.

Signatures

  • Reader users can sign documents even without the document being rights enabled. This means that signing is possible by any user and no action is required by the document author to enable this feature.
  • A streamlined workflow means that it is now possible to delete multiple certificates with minimum clicks.
  • Added trusted anchor certificates SAFE BioPharma from the US and Digi-Sign from Hong Kong to the Adobe Acrobat Trust List. We now have 45 members: http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/approved-trust-list1.html.

Support for Enhanced Protected Mode in Internet Explorer.
3302756 Active content (such as JS, JAVA, and Flash) is blocked for HTML portfolio previews when Protected Mode is enabled.

Energy usage

Acrobat product enhancements include redesigns that reduce the amount of energy consumed by certain features, thereby potentially extending a device’s battery life. Additional improvements in this area are targeted for future releases.
Signatures

A new preference has been added that specifies whether the addressbook.acrodata file should be imported during a new install. The address book contains the certificate details used in signature workflows. Prior versions only allowed turning the feature off and on, and it was not possible to import certificate data silently. Thus, admins could not deploy new versions without having end users see the import dialog. Setting iImportAddressBook to 2 now enables the silent import of address books.

For configuration details, see the Preference Reference.
Services integration

Support for the .tif extension (in addition to .tiff) when importing signature images.
    File Menu enhancements for acrobat.com.
3571055 OCR recognizes text during Export PDF operation even when disabled.

Adobe Reader XI 11.0.05

Uitgave opmerkingen:
This update resolves a regression that permitted the launch of javacript scheme URIs when viewing a PDF in a browser (CVE-2013-5325).
