GOM Player is een Zuid-Koreaanse mediaspeler die net als VLC bijna elk mediaformaat afspeelt en veel lichter is dan bijvoorbeeld Windows Mediaspeler.

GOM Player 2.2.57 kwam vorige week uit. Deze versie van de Koreaanse mediaspeler lost een beveiligingsprobleem met de urls van mediabestanden op. Ook zijn er diverse verbeteringen aangebracht aan de videofilters en zijn er veranderingen doorgevoerd in de subtitle explorer en de codec finder. Nadere details over andere wijzingen kun je hieronder nalezen.

GOM Player is te krijgen voor Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 en 8.1. Een Nederlandse vertaling is er niet. Let op! Tijdens de installatie krijg je de AVG Security Toolbar of andere extra software aangeboden. Haal de vinkjes weg als je deze onnodige extraatjes niet wilt.

4. Improved the Bookmarks feature
- Added display options to the Manage Bookmarks window

- Corrected an issue where bookmark times were not being displayed correctly

5. Added a feature that enables users to jump to a specific time in a video
This feature can be accessed using the keyboard shortcut [G]

6. “Play in a single thread” feature will be set to Off by default
This feature will be set to off automatically when installing version 2.2.57.5189 (either a clean install or an overwrite of the previous version), and/or when resetting the software to defaults from the preferences window.

This feature can still be turned back on manually from the preferences window

7. Playback support for shortcut (.LNK) files has been added
The target file of .lnk shortcut files can now be played by opening the .lnk file with GOM Media Player (as long as the target file is a supported file format).

8. Corrected an issue where DAT file associations were not being unapplied correctly

9. Altered the Codec Finder window so that it can be used in conjunction with voice-command software

10. Improved the behavior of the Subtitle Explorer window to match the selected subtitle position

11. Addressed and fixed a security issue related to files being accessed via URLs

12. Enhanced the security of the installer package (GOMPLAYERENSETUP.EXE)

GOM Player is een Zuid-Koreaanse mediaspeler die net als VLC bijna elk mediaformaat afspeelt en veel lichter is dan bijvoorbeeld Windows Mediaspeler.

Voor GOM Player 2.2.56, dat anderhalve week terug uitkwam, is een onderhoudsupdate verschenen. GOM 2.2.56.5183 is nu officieel geschikt voor Windows 8.1 en lost diverse fouten op die in de vorige uitgave waren geslopen. Onder andere verschillende problemen met het afspelen van mp3, mp4, avi en asx bestanden zijn verholpen. Verdere details kun je hieronder nalezen.

GOM Player is een Zuid-Koreaanse mediaspeler die net als VLC bijna elk mediaformaat afspeelt en veel lichter is dan bijvoorbeeld Windows Mediaspeler.

GOM Player 2.2.56 is vandaag verschenen. Deze uitgave van de veelzijdige mediaspeler verbetert het afspelen van mov, ts, mts, m2ts, wmv, ogm en raw avi-bestanden. Ook kan beter 'vooruitgespoeld' worden in Flash filmpjes (flv). Verder kunnen filmjes geroteerd worden onder hoeken van 90, 180 en 270 graden. Deze functie moet eerst in de preferences aangezet worden.

Ook kan GOM Player nu H.265 video's afspelen (dit formaat is de opvolger van het populaire H.264). Een fout bij het afspelen van DVD's onder 32-bits versies van Windows die leidde tot een crash van GOM Player is gerepareerd. En ten slotte is een beveiligingslek dichtgeplakt in deze uitgave. 4. Album art will now be displayed when playing MP3 files instead of the animated GOM background (but only if readable album art data is present for the file you are playing!)

5. Added hardware playback support for Intel Quick Sync Video.

6. Improved the "Move by keyframe" feature.

7. Added support for AC3-SPDIF Output.

8. Added support for Apple Closed Caption subtitles.

9. Fixed an issue where DVD playback on certain 32bit OS would cause forced terminations　of GOM Media Player.

10. Added links to the Official Gom Media Player website, FAQ, etc. to the default GOM2.2 skin.

GOM Player is een Zuid-Koreaanse mediaspeler die net als VLC bijna elk mediaformaat afspeelt en veel lichter is dan bijvoorbeeld Windows Mediaspeler.

GOM Player 2.2.53 is vorige week uitgebracht. Deze uitgave is een grote update voor de mediaspeler die onder andere een nieuwe interface brengt. Deze is alleen zichtbaar als je een schone installatie doet. Bij een update behoud je het oude uiterlijk. Ook kun je de interface nu transparant maken - voor wie daar behoefte aan heeft.

Verder kan het volume harder gezet worden (tot 200%) en is de bladwijzer-functie verbeterd. Handig is dat GOM Player nu de volgende codecs standaard ingebouwd heeft (die hoef je dus niet meer apart te downloaden): FLAC, Vorbis, ADPCM, Theora, VC-1, VP6, FPS1, IV50, IV40 en SVQ3.

Ten slotte worden enkele fouten gerepareerd en een beveiligingslek dichtgeplakt.

User Interface / General Features
1. A new default GOM Player 2.2 Skin has been applied.

* The skin will only be applied by default if you are doing a clean install of the software. If you overwrite your current installation, the skin you are currently using will be maintained.

2. Volume can now be boosted to 200%.

* When increasing the volume, the slider will momentarily stop at 100%.
* The volume slider will be in the middle of the volume scroll bar when volume is set at 100%
* The volume slider will be displayed as orange for 1% ~ 100% and as red for 101% ~ 200%
* This is a volume boost feature, so audio may be distorted at 200% when playing some files.
* A feature has been added to the player's audio preferences that allows you to cap the volume setting at 100%. This feature is OFF by default

3. UI Transparency Slider added, allowing you to adjust the opacity/transparency of the GOM Player User Interface

4. Bookmark Feature Improved

* A bookmark manager window has been added
* A feature that will show bookmarks on the seek bar has been added
* Ability to delete individual bookmarks from within the Player UI has been added.
* Ability to jump to next/previous bookmark has been added

5. When using Windows 8, it is now possible to open the Windows Control Panel "Default Programs" window for GOM Player from the Player Preferences window (Preferences -> Others -> File Types)

6. A small playback status icon will now appear over the GOM Player icon on the taskbar.

7. When changing the window size a message reflecting the change will now be displayed.

Internal Codec Support
GOM Media Player now supports playback of the following codecs with it's internal filters.
1. FLAC
2. Vorbis
3. ADPCM
4. Theora
5. VC-1
6. VP6
7. FPS1
8. IV50
9. IV40
10. SVQ3

* Unfortunately AC3 audio is still not supported by GOM's internal filters.
* AAC Audio playback may still require additional codecs on some systems.

Corrections and Fixes:
1. A buffer overflow security issue was identified and corrected.

2. An issue where the audio and video track would be slightly out of sync (~0.3 seconds) on some XviD and MPEG4 video files has been corrected

3. An issue where the Display Aspect Ratio of some files was not being correctly recognized has been corrected.
*Display aspect ratios may still be incorrect on certain files.

4. Improved the ability to correctly display the "Current Frame" information on the Playing File Info window.

5. Other misc. corrections and fixes.

GOM Player 2.1.50 is een kleine update die het afspelen van AAC audiobestanden (Apple) en MP4 verbetert. Ook is het nu mogelijk om vanuit privacy-overwegingen afgespeelde bestanden in GOM Player niet meer te laten verschijnen in (of te verwijderen uit) de lijst met recente bestanden in Windows 7 en 8.

2. The AC3 tab has been removed from the Prefences window, and internal AC3 options have been disabled.

GOM Player 2.1.49 is een onderhoudsupdate die enkele fouten in de software repareert en diverse verbeteringen doorvoert. Zo worden .flv- en .mts-bestanden beter afgespeeld. Ook is de vooruitspoelfunctie voor mp4, mkv en avi verbeterd.

GOM Player is een Zuid-Koreaanse mediaspeler die net als VLC bijna elk mediaformaat afspeelt en veel lichter is dan bijvoorbeeld Windows Mediaspeler.

GOM Player 2.1.47 is een grote update die onder andere ondersteuning voor Windows 8 brengt. Ook is een beveiligingslek verholpen in deze versie. Verder is de standaard filter voor het afspelen van MPEG-2 bestanden (zoals MTS) veranderd, is het afspelen van AC3 audio-bestanden verbeterd en kun je andere beeldverhoudingen, zoals 1,85:1 en 2,35:1 instellen bij het bekijken van video.

Uitgave opmerkingen:

1. Windows 8 Support Added / Windows 98SE support dropped.
GOM Media Player now officially supports windows 8 64bit and 32bit versions. Furthermore, official support for Windows 98SE has been dropped.

2. Default MPEG Transport Stream changed.
The default source filter for playback of MPEG-2 based file formats (MTS, M2TS, TS, TP, etc) has been changed to "GOM Player's internal source filter 2".

3. Added additional Aspect Ratio options.
Users can now manually set the video aspect ratio to [1.85:1] and [2.35:1] from the GOM (right-click) menu.

An issue where an external filter was not being used properly for playback of AC3 files has been corrected.

GOM Player 2.1.43 speelt AAC audiobestanden beter af en heeft betere ondersteuning voor SRT ondertitels. Ook is een probleem met het afspelen van AVI-bestanden gecorrigeerd in deze uitgave.

1. Improved AAC Audio Support
Corrected an issue where audio was not being played correctly when trying to play video or audio files that used AAC audio encoding.

3. SRT Subtitle Display Issue Corrected
Fixed an issue that was causing SRT subtitles to be displayed incorrectly when the files were located in folders that were named using non-English characters.

4. RTL Subtitle Support Added (beta)
Added a feature that will display right-to-left subtitles in the correct order. This feature can be enabled by opening the Preferences window (push F5), selecting “Subtitles” from the list on the left, going to the “Others” tab, and checking the box next to “RTL Language Subtitle Support[Beta]”. As the name suggests, this feature is in the beta phase.

5. Miscellaneous Fixes
Minor fixes concerning bugs, phrasing, and other issues have been applied.

Er is een nieuwe versie van GOM Player verschenen. De Zuid-Koreaanse mediaspeler speelt net als VLC bijna elk mediaformaat af en is veel lichter dan bijvoorbeeld Windows Mediaspeler.

GOM Player 2.1.40 bevat enkele verbeteringen en correcties. Zo worden zeer grote AVI, MKV, WMV, ASF, MP4, OGG en TS bestanden nu beter afgespeeld. Ook zijn de filters en codecs voor MP4, FLV en AVI verbeterd.

Ook is het nu mogelijk om het splash screen uit te zetten dat soms verschijnt als je GOM Player afsluit. Dit kun je onder het menu Preferences | General | Network tab | Splash Screen doen. Verdere wijzigingen kun je in de release notes nalezen.

GOM Player is te downloaden voor Windows 2000 tot en met 7. Een Nederlandse vertaling is er niet. Tijdens de installatie krijg je de AVG Security Toolbar aangeboden. Kies Custom Installation en haal de vinkjes weg als je deze werkbalk niet wilt.

Release notes:
A major update to GOM Media Player was released on April 19, 2012.

Changes in version 2.1.40.5106 include:

1. Disable Splash Screen Function (window that appears when closing the player) added.

Users can now permanently disable the splash screen that periodically appears when closing the player. This can be done from the Preferences window (Preferences -> General -> Network tab -> Splash Screen). Resetting the player to it's default settings or re-installing the software after uninstalling will re-enable the Splash screen until it is disabled again.

2. Improved the Gretech MP4 Source Filter.

Corrected an issue that was causing MOV files recorded with CANON and FUJIFILM digital cameras to be played with no sound under the software's default settings.

3. Altered default screen size settings.

In the previous version the "Only apply when launching a new instance of GOM Player" option was enabled by default, causing all videos to open at 100% size of the first video viewed during that session. This option is now disabled by default.

4. Improved playback for extremely large files (AVI, MKV, WMV, ASF, MP4, OGG, TS)

Corrected a problem that caused files that are larger than 40MB per second to play incorrectly.

5. Added the LAV Audio Decoder to the Disabled Filters List

Due to compatibility issues that were causing playback errors, the LAV Audio Decoder is now disabled by default.

6. Corrected the Gretech FLV Source Filter

When trying to play FLV files that included audio that was encoded with the Speex codec, a "0x00000055" error was displayed and the file could not be played. The Speex codec is still not supported, however video can now be viewed properly when playing such files.

7. Improved the Gretech AVI Source Filter

Corrected an issue where audio was not played correctly on some AVI files that were comprised of multiple indexes.

8. Product information added to the Windows Control Panel

When highlighting GOM Player in the Programs and Features section of the Windows Control Panel, Product Version information, a Help Link, a Support Link, and an Update information link are now displayed at the bottom of the window.

9. Impoved the Playback Window size adjustment feature

Previously when using the [Ctrl] + [Alt] + Numpad [-] shortcut you could make the playback window so small that it would completely disappear. This issue has been corrected and a minimum size has been applied.

10. Adjusted the default AC3 options

Previously there was a slight boost applied to AC3 gain by default, which was causing minor audio distortion in some files. The AC3 Gain control is now set to 0 by default.

11. Misc

Miscellaneous minor changes to phrasing, etc.

Er is een nieuwe versie van GOM Player verschenen. De Zuid-Koreaanse mediaspeler speelt net als VLC bijna elk mediaformaat af en is veel lichter dan bijvoorbeeld Windows Mediaspeler.

GOM Player 2.1.39 lost een beveiligingsprobleem op dat betrekking heeft op de 'Open URL'-functie. Behalve de reparatie van dit lek heeft deze uitgave van GOM Player geen verdere vernieuwingen

GOM Player is te downloaden voor Windows 98 tot en met 7. Een Nederlandse vertaling is er niet.
