WinPatrol 30.9.2014.0

WinPatrol is aanvullende beveiligingssoftware voor je virusscanner en firewall die met behulp van waakhond Scotty (zie afbeelding) allerlei instellingen op je pc controleert en waarschuwt bij veranderingen. Een prima extra beveiligingslaag voor gebruikers die alles op hun computer in de gaten willen houden.

WinPatrol 30.5.2014.1 is dinsdag uitgebracht door BillP Studios. Deze versie van WinPatrol heeft voor het eerst de beschikking over tooltips of hints in de interface. Dit zijn de kleine ballonnetjes met informatieve tekst en toelichtingen als je met je muis over de knoppen beweegt (zie afbeelding).

Tooltips in WinPatrol

Je kunt de tooltips uitschakelen onder Opties als je er geen behoefte aan hebt en je kunt zelfs een tooltip-stijl kiezen. Tot nu toe had WinPatrol geen tooltips omdat de hoofddoelstelling altijd is geweest dat het programma zo weinig mogelijk geheugen moet gebruiken. Nu bleek echter dat de tooltips geen negatieve invloed op de prestaties van een pc hebben.

Verder bevat deze uitgave van WinPatrol een cookie update voor Chrome en Firefox en is een probleem opgelost waardoor bij sommige beeldschermresoluties vensters van WinPatrol niet geheel werden getoond.

WinPatrol is verkrijgbaar voor Windows XP, Vista, 7 en 8. Tegenwoordig komt bijna elke maand een nieuwe update voor WinPatrol uit.

Tooltips
- This version now includes Windows tooltips to provide a consistent, helpful interface. Under the Options tab you can change the tooltip style. Select the default style, the balloon cartoon type or no tips at all.
Cookie Update for Chrome and Firefox
- Uses the same public domain code that is used by Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and other new browsers. This version includes a copy of the newest library which appears in the WinPatrol folder as sqlite3.dll. You may notice in the WinPatrol list of hidden files many files that begin with "elitls" followed by random characters. These are SQLite files as you may notice elitls is SQLite backwards.
Window Positioning
- Updated some Window components that weren't completely visible on some machines with custom DPI.
