Met Eraser is het mogelijk om bestanden op je pc definitief te verwijderen, zodat ze door niemand meer terug te vinden zijn. Als je gewoon de Windows-prullenbak leeggooit zijn bestanden namelijk met speciale herstelsoftware weer terug te vinden (zelfs na formatteren). Eraser vernietigt bestanden onherstelbaar door ze meerdere keren te overschrijven. Hierdoor zijn ze echt niet meer terug te vinden. Eraser is dus een soort digitale papierversnipperaar.

Eraser 6.0.10 is vandaag uitgebracht. Deze versie lost diverse fouten op en vergroot de stabiliteit van het programma. De update wordt aanbevolen door de makers van Eraser. Eraser is te downloaden voor Windows XP, Vista en 7.

Eraser 6.0.9.2343

Het is precies een jaar geleden dat de vorige versie van Eraser uitkwam. Eraser 6.0.9 heeft geen nieuwe functionaliteit. Deze versie van de gratis bestandsversnipperaar lost alleen enkele fouten op en repareert een crash en een geheugenlek.
 
Met Eraser is het mogelijk om bestanden op uw pc onherstelbaar te vernietigen zodat ze niet terug te vinden zijn. Eraser is te downloaden voor Windows XP, Vista en 7.

2305 Fixed updater with the change in server
2315 Fixed bug in monthly schedules
2327 Implementation suggestion by Jackjack that the title of balloon tips should be "Task Completed" and not "Task Executed" for clarity in #388.
2328 Document working around UAC to erase unused disk space.
2331 Fixed bug in scheduler where tasks will only be run once per Eraser start up even if the schedule should have been triggered
2333 Fixed memory leak when the Unlocker feature was enabled.
2338 Fixed some cases where file unlocking would still not allow a file to be unlocked for erasure.
2340 Fixed a situation where by a task would be initiated from the Explorer context menu and when Eraser was not running. Under some situations, the task will run but the UI will not reflect that.
2342 Fixed a crash when using the Unlocker code from Windows Vista.

Eraser 6.0.8.2273

Eraser 6.0.8 is verschenen een half jaar na nummer 6.0.7. In deze versie van de gratis bestanden wisser is een waslijst aan verbeteringen en correcties doorgevoerd. Hierdoor moet Eraser een stuk stabieler zijn en beter bruikbaar.

Veel crashes en kleine foutjes zijn opgelost. Eraser is te downloaden voor Windows XP, Vista en 7.

Eraser 6.0.7.1893

In Eraser 6.0.7.1893 zijn heel veel bugs opgelost die in versie 6 van het programma geslopen zijn. Dit moet de stabiliteit van de gratis bestanden wisser aanzienlijk ten goede komen.

Bij de uitgave van Eraser 6 kwam nogal veel kritiek van gebruikers over crashes en instabiliteit. Als het goed is moeten veel van deze problemen nu verleden tijd zijn.
