Comodo Internet Security (CIS) is een compleet gratis beveiligingspakket met firewall en anti-virus ineen (maar je kunt ook de losse onderdelen apart downloaden).
Comodo Internet Security 7.0.313494 is gisteren uitgebracht. Dit is een grote upgrade voor het beveiligingspakket - dat uitstekende bescherming biedt, zo blijkt uit tests. De voornaamste nieuwe functionaliteit is Viruscope een monitoringsysteem dat processen en activiteiten op je pc in de gaten houdt. Dit is een aanvulling op de Behavior Blocker in Comodo.
Ook zijn de website-filters uitgebreid zodat je makkelijker sites kunt blokkeren. Specifieke Windows-gebruikers kan zo de toegang tot bepaalde websites ontzegd worden, zodat ouders bijvoorbeeld beter kunnen controleren wat hun kinderen op internet doen.
Verder is beveiligde map toegevoegd waar applicaties die in de sandbox draaien geen toegang tot hebben. De sandbox is trouwens 700% sneller geworden claimt Comodo. De Virtuele Kiosk heet tegenwoordig Virtuele Desktop. Hiervoor moet je wel Comodo Dragon en Silverlight installeren. Met de Virtuele Desktop kun je veilig internetten in een sandbox.
Ten slotte zijn in Comodo 7 nog wat wijzigingen in de interface aangebracht, kleine verbeteringen doorgevoerd en diverse fouten opgelost. Alle details kun je hieronder nalezen.
Comodo Internet Security is gratis beschikbaar voor 32-bits en 64-bits versies van Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8 en 8.1. Er is ook weer een Nederlandse vertaling van de interface die je kunt kiezen tijdens de installatie.
Let goed op bij de installatie!
Een mail-adres invullen hoeft niet. En je wilt misschien geen gegevens naar Comodo sturen, niet gebruikmaken van de DNS-servers van Comodo en waarschijnlijk ook je startpagina en zoekmachine niet veranderen in Yahoo!
Dan moet je tijdens de installatie-procedure de vinkjes hiervoor weghalen. Zie de onderstaande afbeeldingen hiervoor.

Als je vervolgens kiest voor Aangepaste installatie in het tweede venster kun je ook kiezen of je de niet per se benodigde GeekBuddy, Comodo Dragon (browser) en PrivDog op je pc wilt.

Viruscope
Viruscope monitors the activities of processes running on your computer and alerts you if they attempt to take suspicious actions. Apart from forming yet another layer of malware detection and prevention, the sub-system represents a valuable addition to the core process-monitoring functionality of the Behavior Blocker by introducing the ability to reverse potentially undesirable actions of software without necessarily blocking the software entirely. This provides more granular control over otherwise legitimate software which requires certain actions to be taken in order to run correctly. Viruscope works using a constantly expanded list of activity ‘recognizers’, which allow the software to detect, block and undo many potentially unwanted actions.
Website Filtering
The new website filtering section gives CIS users a powerful and easy way to allow or block access to specific websites. Website access rules can be created for particular users of your computer, which makes this feature very useful for both home and work environments. For example, parents can block juvenile users from visiting inappropriate websites while companies can prevent employees from visiting leisure sites during working hours. You also have the option to create a log event whenever a user tries to visit a website which is in conflict with a rule. CIS ships with several preset lists (or ‘categories’) of URLs which can be added to rules that you create - including the 'Malicious sites category', the 'Comodo Safe category', the 'Comodo Phishing category' and the 'Comodo Malware category'.
