Secunia PSI 2.0

Van Secunia Personal Software Inspector (PSI) is de langverwachte versie 2.0 uitgekomen. Secunia PSI bekijkt welke programma's allemaal op uw pc staan en geeft vervolgens aan of u de laatste, up-to-date, versie heeft van deze software. Als uw software verouderd is biedt Secunia PSI aan om de laatste versie - al dan niet automatisch - te downloaden. Update-controle om uw pc zo veilig mogelijk te houden.

De Deense makers (van het gelijknamige beveiligingsbedrijf Secunia) hebben in deze versie van het handige programma enkele belangrijke verbeteringen geïmplementeerd. Zo is de automatische update-functie nu eindelijk ingevoerd. Een grote sprong voorwaarts om computers up-to-date, en dus veilig, te houden zonder dat gebruikers daar zelf steeds op moeten letten.

Helaas worden nog lang niet alle programma's automatisch geüpdate, maar een begin is er. Als automatisch updaten niet mogelijk is, zult u handmatig de laatste versies van programma's moeten installeren. Verder is de interface vernieuwd en worden de resultaten van een scan op verouderde software nu overzichtelijker gepresenteerd. Ten slotte zijn kleine foutjes opgelost in Secunia PSI 2.0.

Mensen die de software al gebruiken krijgen automatisch een melding van de update, anders kunt u Secunia PSI 2.0 gratis downloaden voor Windows XP, Vista en 7. Een Nederlandse vertaling van de nieuwe versie is er nog niet.

Release notes:

• Automatic Updates: Functionality for Auto Updates is now implemented as a core feature in the Secunia PSI.
• New User Interface: A new User Interface has been implemented. The design has been updated to make it simpler and easy to use the Secunia PSI as well as improving the overall look and feel.
• Integration with Secunia CSI: The new Secunia PSI features integration with the commercial Secunia CSI. Secunia CSI customers can learn more about this feature with the release of the Secunia CSI 4.1.
• Improved Presentation of Scan Result: The presentation of scan results have been significantly improved, using techniques that have been tested during the Technology Preview.
  The Scan Results will be grouped according to their installation and patch state, which in turn makes it simpler to identify the programs that actually requires the latest security patches and which are e.g. "simply" left-over files from previous installations.
