Afgelopen vrijdag is VirtualBox 5.0.12 verschenen. Dit is de zesde onderhoudsupdate voor VirtualBox 5 waarin verschillende fouten verholpen zijn, crashes opgelost en specifieke probleempjes en regressies met de Windows-, Mac- en Linux-versie gerepareerd. Details kun je hieronder nalezen.

Gisteren is VirtualBox 5.0.8 uitgebracht. Dit is een vierde onderhoudsupdate voor VirtualBox 5 waarin verschillende fouten verholpen zijn en specifieke probleempjes met de Windows-, Mac- en Linux-versie gerepareerd. Details kun je hieronder nalezen.

In deze uitgave zijn diverse problemen met Windows 10 verholpen. Ook is de 3D ondersteuning onder Mac OS X weer gerepareerd. Details kun je hieronder nalezen.

Gisteren is VirtualBox 5.0 uitgebracht. Dit is een grote nieuwe uitgave van het virtualisatie-pakket met daarin de nodige wijzigingen.  Zo zijn onder andere para-virtualisatie (waardoor de prestaties van het gast-systeem flink verbeterd worden), USB 3-ondersteuning, encryptie van virtuele harde schijf-images, drag and drop van bestanden tussen gast en host-besturingssysteem (tweezijdig) onder Windows en Linux toegevoegd.

Verder kun je nu meerdere virtuele machines tegelijk draaien en zijn bij het starten van een VM de opties Normale start, headless Start (als apart proces) en Detachable start toegevoegd.

Verschillende startopties

Ook wordt HiDPI op Mac ondersteund, is er een tabblad waar je de gebruikersinterface van de virtuele machine kunt aanpassen en kun je de vensters van virtuele machines nu schalen. Ten slotte zijn heel veel fouten opgelost, crashes gerepareerd en kleine verbeteringen doorgevoerd. Meer details kun je hieronder nalezen.

GUI: New Encryption settings tab for customizing encryption options for disk images

New, modular audio architecture for providing a better abstraction of the host audio backends
Support for the NDIS6 networking framework on Windows (default on Vista and later)

VMM: debug facility now includes the guest CPU's FPU/SSE/extended state in the core dump

GUI: improved HID LEDs synchronization for Mac and Windows hosts. The physical LEDs state now restored together with the VM state.

VBoxManage: when exporting an appliance, support the suppression of MAC addresses, which means they will be always recreated on import, avoiding duplicate MAC addresses for VMs which are imported several times

Guest Control: major overhaul, for example fixing wrong parameter quoting (bug #13157)
USB: added USB traffic capturing (see the manual for more information)
Made resizing X11 guests work more reliably
API: block the removal of the current snapshot if it has child snapshots (only relevant for VMs without snapshottable hard disks, their presence always prevented removal), which resulted in VM config corruption
API: mark VM configs with snapshots but without current snapshot as inaccessible, as this combination is nonsense
API: fix information for some automatically generated events (only with XPCOM, Windows host was not affected), which caused errors when getting some of the attributes over the webservice (bug #12379)
