Online Armor Firewall 5.5.0.1557 is een week na de introductie van versienummer 5.5 - met nieuwe functies als de cloud scan - uitgebracht. Onbekend is vooralsnog wat is veranderd in deze kleine update voor de firewall, maar vermoedelijk betreft het kleine fouten die opgelost zijn.

Online Armor Free is verkrijgbaar in het Nederlands voor Windows XP, Vista en 7. Online Armor is nu ook beschikbaar voor 64-bits Windows 7.

Online Armor Firewall 5.5 is verschenen. Deze uitgave van de geavanceerde firewall brengt twee grote vernieuwingen die beide met de cloud te maken hebben.

Ten eerste is het anti-malware netwerk van producent Emsisoft nu geïntegreerd met Online Armor. Onbekende programma's worden gecontroleerd met behulp van de cloud (een online database met legitieme software en malware), waarna betrouwbare applicaties automatisch, zonder tussenkomst van de gebruiker, goedgekeurd worden. Dit scheelt veel onnodige popups en voorkomt dat gebruikers vaak zelf programma's moeten beoordelen.

Ten tweede maakt Online Armor nu gebruik van een cloud scan waardoor malware meteen gedetecteerd wordt. Hierdoor kan je pc beter beveiligd worden. Lees de verdere wijzigingen hieronder in de release notes na.

Unnecessary key resets when reinstalling your OS are a thing of the past.
• New pricing system rewards your loyalty:
  The 1-year license is 25 % cheaper if renewed once the initial 1-year period has expired and will be a further 5 % cheaper for every additional year you renew it. Long-term customers can thus benefit from discounts of up to 50 %.
• Fine tuning:
  We have added news popups that keep you up to date with the latest Emsisoft news and fixed several potential incompatibilites, e.g. in combination with Ad Muncher or WinCrypt. As well as countless minor changes for improved user experience and best protection.

Softwaremaker Emsisoft (van het gelijknamige Anti-Malware) heeft vorig jaar Online Armor firewall overgenomen. Nu is versie 5.1 verschenen waarin met name problemen met andere applicaties, die zich voordeden in Online Armor 5.0, zijn opgelost.

Zo is de compatibiliteit met onder andere Google Chrome, Sandboxie en Panda Cloud AV sterk verbeterd. Verder zijn ook honderd vervelende bevriezingen van de interface, crashes en andere bugs opgelost - wat de bruikbaarheid van Online Armor aanzienlijk moet vergroten.

Gezien deze lijst aan verbeteringen kun je je afvragen of versie 5.0 niet te overhaast is uitgebracht dit voorjaar. Nieuw is verder dat de freeware versie nu ook beschikt over automatische updates van whitelists en blacklists en dat verdachte bestanden geüpload kunnen worden naar Emsisoft.

Softwaremaker Emsisoft (van het gelijknamige Anti-Malware - voorheen a-squared) heeft vorig jaar de Online Armor firewall overgenomen. Gisteren is versie 5.0 verschenen en het eerste wat opvalt is dat Emsisoft de firewall een geheel nieuw uiterlijk heeft gegeven dat nauw aansluit bij zijn andere producten.

Verder is in Online Armor 5 de zelfbescherming verbeterd, zodat kwaadaardige programma's de firewall niet kunnen uitschakelen. Ten slotte zijn in deze uitgave ruim 400 foutjes opgelost en details verbeterd.

  Users can create rules to limit the access of certain application groups to specified files, folders or registry keys. Due to the advanced nature of this feature it is only available in "Advanced Mode".

In Online Armor 4.5.1 zijn de beveiliging tegen onder ander keyloggers en de zelfbescherming verbeterd. Verder zijn diverse foutjes opgelost en ten slotte is Online Armor nu officieel Windows 7 compatible omdat de firewall geslaagd is voor de test van Microsoft.

In de gratis versie van Online Armor is nu ook het WebSchild beschikbaar dat beschermt tegen gevaren op internet. Ook zijn diverse fouten opgelost waaronder een storende fout tijdens de installatie waarbij een melding door Windows werd gegeven dat de uitgever van de software niet geverifieerd kon worden.
