Google Chrome 38.0.2125.101

Google Chrome is de browser van Google die in 2008 geïntroduceerd is. Chrome behoort inmiddels met Internet Explorer en Firefox tot de top drie van meestgebruikte desktop browsers en is ook op nieuwere Android toestellen standaard aanwezig.

Google Chrome 38.0.2125.101 is gisteren uitgebracht. Dit is grotendeels een beveiligingsupdate voor Googles browser. Ondanks de ophoging van het versienummer van 37 naar 38 wordt er geen nieuwe functionaliteit geïntroduceerd in deze uitgave. Wel is de infrastructuur voor extensies en webapps in Chrome uitgebreid en zijn onder de motorkap diverse stabiliteitsverbeteringen doorgevoerd.

Maar vooral worden beveiligingslekken gerepareerd. Een recordaantal: maar liefst 159 gaten worden dichtgeplakt! Google haast zich daarbij te vermelden dat 113 slechts kleine lekken zijn die niet ernstig zijn, maar toch. Dan nog zijn er 46 lekken die kritiek, ernstig of gemiddeld van ernst zijn. Een monsterbeveiligingsupdate dus.

Google Chrome is gratis te downloaden voor Windows, Mac OS X en Linux. De browser wordt automatisch geüpdated, daar hoef je zelf niks voor te doen. Er zijn ook versies van Chrome voor iOS en Android.

Security Fixes and Rewards
