Firefox 39.0

Firefox 39.0 is donderdagavond verschenen. Dit is een reguliere zeswekelijkse update voor Mozilla's browser, waarin enkele nieuwe functies worden toegevoegd, verbeteringen doorgevoerd, fout opgelost en lekken dichtgeplakt worden.

Nieuw is dat je nu mensen kunt uitnodigen voor Hello-chats (de ingebouwde chat-client in Firefox) via onder andere Facebook, Twitter en LinkedIn. Verder zijn animaties en scrollen soepeler geworden onder Mac OS X. Ook is de SafeBrowsing malware-download-bescherming aangezet voor Mac en Linux (Windows had dit al). En emoji's met verschillende huidskleuren worden nu ondersteund in Firefox 39.

Voorts zijn diverse verbeteringen voor ontwikkelaars en in de HTML5-ondersteuning doorgevoerd. Enkele fouten zijn opgelost en ten slotte worden 13 beveiligingslekken dichtgeplakt, waarvan 4 kritiek waren.

Firefox is te downloaden voor Windows, Mac OS X en Linux. In de komende dagen wordt je browser automatisch bijgewerkt. Je kunt ook zelf updaten onder de Firefox-knop | Help | Over Firefox.
