Google Chrome is alweer aanbeland bij versie 12. Ongeveer elke anderhalf tot twee maanden verhoogt Google het volgnummer van zijn browser. In uitgave 12 van Google Chrome zitten diverse vernieuwingen.
Zo heeft Google Chrome nu extra beveiliging tegen het downloaden van schadelijke bestanden door middel van safe browsing protection. Ook is het nu mogelijk om Flash cookies vanuit Google Chrome zelf te verwijderen (dit is mogelijk gemaakt na een aanpassing van Adobe vorige maand om zijn beruchte Flash cookies makkelijker te kunnen opruimen). Flash cookies worden verwijderd als u in Chrome cookies en plugin gegevens (daar vallen de Flash cookies onder) opruimt.
Verder kunnen webapps gestart worden door de naam in de Omnibox (adresbalk) te typen en is Sync geïntegreerd in de nieuwe instellingenpagina van Chrome. En hardwarematig versnelde 3D CSS zorgt voor een betere weergave van 3D graphics op webpagina's.
Ten slotte zijn in Google Chrome 12 vijftien beveiligingslekken dichtgeplakt. Google Chrome 12.0.742.91 is gratis te downloaden voor Windows, Mac OS X en Linux. Google Chrome update automatisch op de achtergrond als u de browser opstart. Daar hoeft u niks voor te doen.
